5 Bollywood Horror Comedies That’ll Manage To Send A Chill Down Your Spine While You LOL

So, to be honest, I’ve only watched horror movies through the gaps of my fingers covering my eyes. And yet, those movies would have a lasting impression for days (read weeks) of waking up in the middle of the night, holding myself to visiting the bathroom. ‘Cause who knows what’s waiting at the other side of that door, amirite?

Having said that, more than the serious and full-fledged horror movies, my recent favourite genre is definitely Zom-Coms and horror comedies. I truly enjoy the comic timing that breaks the scare at the right time. Making it relatable and scary and the same time. It all started with the era of Bhoot Bangla (1965) all the way till Bhool Bhulaiya (2007) and Goa Gone (2013) with a comeback in this genre and it just never fails to entertain ever since.
So, let me take you through the best Bollywood horror comedies that have terrified me with a side of LOL.

1. Stree (2018)

Vicky tries to unravel the mystery of the witch that attacks the men of the village. Loved the work of Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao and the supporting cast too.

2. Bhediya (2022)

A recent launch starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, this movie is going to have to laugh and shiver at the same time. Bhaskar (VD) gets bitten by a wolf in the forest and the movie is basically about his struggle while he turns into a shape-shifting ware wolf. Yup, you heard it.

3. Phone bhoot (2022)

Another cute, yet freaky movie that blew me by surprise. Especially the performances by Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khattar and Siddhant Chaturvedi were more than badass. The two boys are obsessed with ghosts since childhood. Until they meet one up close and personal.

4. Roohi (2021)

I won’t tell you much ‘cause I’ll end up giving away too much. But you have to watch this for the comic timing of Jahnvi Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao and Varun Sharma. Absolutely phenomenal.

5. Bhool bhulaiya (2007)

The first BB was goosebump-worthy and you can’t deny it. Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan have found the balance of funny and scary so beautifully. And if you’re one of the few dozen people who haven’t watched it yet, I’d suggest you do it asap.

If you’ve not indulged in this genre yet, I’d suggest you give it a watch. You won’t regret it. In fact, it might replace your need to watch scary horror movies altogether. Hawww, imagine that. Not kidding.
Tell me your favourite movie in this genre, in the comments below!
