Tailored Shorts Is The New Micro-Trend Ruling The Red Carpet

I hate mainstream men’s fashion, especially when it comes to red-carpet events. It’s just so boring and lacks any kind of experimentation. It seems like stylists have completely given up. So you can imagine my joy when I see a relatively fresh micro-trend making its way onto the scene.
At the ongoing men’s fashion week ’24, I’ve noticed a bunch of celebrities rocking tailored shorts paired with trench coats, leather jackets, or matching shirts. It may not be a groundbreaking design, but it’s a refreshing change from the usual mundane looks. Let’s take a look at some of my favourites:

Troye Sivan

Troye Sivan looked effortlessly cool in a sleeveless brown top and loose white shorts for Prada’s menswear showcase. He added a glossy black belt and a simple silver chain.

Jacob Elordi

Jacob Elordi, from the show Euphoria, looked fantastic in his head-to-toe Valentino ensemble. He wore over-the-knee shorts, a tie, and leather boots. Oh, and let’s not forget the controversy over his choice of socks. Some people loved it, while others hated it.

Jeff Satur

Thai actor and singer-songwriter Jeff Satur also attended the Valentino men’s show, rubbing shoulders with big names from around the world. He chose a sleek pair of black shorts, which he wore under a longline white trench coat. To complete the look, he added a black tie. It seems like the Valentino attendees had a pre-determined uniform.

Diplo

The American DJ and music producer was spotted at the Fendi menswear show in Italy. He rocked an oversized cobalt blue leather outfit with knee-length shorts and a structured crossbody messenger bag. He definitely caught everyone’s attention.

These celebrities have definitely brought some excitement to men’s fashion with their stylish shorts. It’s a refreshing change from the usual mundane looks we see on the red carpet. Let’s hope this micro-trend continues to evolve and inspire more experimentation.
